چکیده
The present paper reports a thorough experimental investigation into the net section failure behaviour and capacity of stainless steel staggered bolted connections in tension. testing programme was carried out on 31 connection specimens, with 18 made austenitic (grade EN 1.4301), 7 duplex 1.4462) 6 ferritic 1.4016). geometric parameters, including transverse pitches, bolt hole patterns were varied. test setup procedures, as well key experimentally observed results, modes loads, are reported detail. obtained loads analysed discussed, then utilised to assess accuracy established design rules for connections, given European, American Australian/New Zealand standards. All three examined standards consider (i) fracture (ii) gross yielding specify that load shall be taken minimum value calculated from all potential modes. It found current lead overly conservative scattered predictions inaccurate mode predictions. A new approach based continuous strength method (CSM) is proposed, shown result substantially improved both

Structural behavior of cold-formed stainless steel bolted connections
This paper presents a series of tests on cold-formed stainless steel bolted connections. The test specimens were fabricated from three different types of stainless steel, including austenitic stainless steel EN1.4301 (AISI 304) and EN1.4571 (AISI 316Ti having small amount of titanium) as well as lean duplex stainless steel EN1.4162 (AISI S32101). The material properties of the three types of st...
متن کاملNumerical and experimental assessment of stainless and carbon bolted tensioned members with staggered bolts
Current stainless steel design codes, like the Eurocode 3, part 1.4, (2006), are still largely based on analogies with carbon steel structural behavior. The net section rupture represents one of the ultimate limit states usually verified for structural elements submitted to normal tension stress. An investigation aiming to evaluate the tension capacity of carbon and stainless steel bolted struc...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Beam-To-Column Bolted Connections in Steel Frames
This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...
متن کاملBolted moment connections in drive-in and drive-through steel storage racks
Often unbraced, the stability of steel storage racks may depend solely on the pallet beam to upright connector and on the stiffness of the base plate to floor connection ([1]). This paper presents experimental results from cyclic tests performed on portal beam to upright bolted moment connections intended for cold-formed steel drive-in and drive-through storage racks. In storage racks, portal b...
متن کاملFinite Element Analysis on Tensile Stiffness of Cold-Formed Steel Bolted Connections
This paper presents a finite element analysis on the tensile stiffness of steel bolted connections, which are fabricated from thin-walled cold-formed steel strips and members. This type of bolted connection is usually used to assemble the diagonal bracing member in the light steel structure. Unlike the architectural steel structure, thin walled steel bolted connection cannot be simplified into ...
